This course meets the education requirements to become a California notary or to renew your California notary commission. (Please see the "FAQs" for more on the steps involved in becoming a notary. This class is just the beginning.)
The downloadable course is a book of approximately 50 pages divided into small, readable chapters. It contains everything you need to know to pass the California notary exam or to refresh your knowledge for the renewal.
Each chapter is followed by a short chapter review. Use these to test your knowledge as you study the information. When you can complete the chapter review without having to consult the book for an answer, you're probably ready to go on to the next chapter.
At the end of the book is a Sample Practice Exam. This simulates the exam administered by the state. Use this to see if you're ready to sign up for the state exam, or save it to use as a review prior to your examination date.
Whether you're using the course for qualifying or continuing education, you'll prove your completion of the course by signing an affidavit that you studied the materials and completing an open book "test" to demonstrate you have read the materials.

2. Once you have paid, you will receive an email with a link to download the course.
3. Read the book carefully, completing the reviews for each chapter as you go. The answers for the reviews follow each test. These are not for you to turn in. They are for you to use to gauge your understanding of the material in preparation for the exam.
4. Once you have read the book and taken the review tests, print and complete the affidavit at the end of the book.
5. Fill out the Key Sentence Test at the end of the book. This is to prove that you have read the entire book.
6. Fax, scan, e-mail, or snail mail these items to us: (1) the affidavit (2) the Key Sentence Test (3) copy of the identification used to complete the affidavit and (4) the cover letter at the end of the book.
7. We will send your Proof of Completion by e-mail, fax, or USPS (your choice) within 2-3 business days. Rush service is available for a $10 charge.
